Sunsets from a fort

I love forts and then, I also love sunsets. So witnessing a sunset from a fort is something special to me.

Let’s not talk about forts and how they stand witness to time, empires rising and falling, generations coming and going and all that. Lets talk about the beauty of the present: Sunset from the fort. As the sun slowly sets over the horizon and the city lights start to shine it feels like the fort has mastered the art of making sunsets look beautiful having seen them for centuries now!

Gwalior fort — Clicked by me in 2016

The roads, the bazaar, the birds flying back home, the life of the city — as another day comes to and end and the people head home to find some solace.. Everything is so hectic! But when we look at this from the edge of the fort, it looks so calm. The lights glimmer from a distance, the silence which only breaks from the ringing of the temple bells, all adds up to the serenity. Isn’t it the perfect place to just sit and think? Think whatever we want to think! Exams, office, personal life, philosophy, future, past or maybe just hum a song cause you were lucky enough to be free from all thoughts! It was funny how everyone was silent, even a couple with a 6–7 year old kid were too mersmerized by the sight as noone spoke as they were busy looking into the sight. So many faces, all looking into this amazing sight — Everyone has a story and their story is what matters the most to them.

The city shining at night (Gwalior, 2016)

This picture, which I had captured after the light and sound show of the Gwalior fort history, fails to capture the actual beauty. The beautiful moon is missing. It was playing hide and seek with the clouds. The glimmer of the lights became even more beautiful. There is something about the nights which brings out a sea of thoughts in me.. Clouds, seasons, nights, the night sky, the vastness of everything around us which we fail to appreciate as we are too lost in our own stories.
